Cathay Pacific made a huge typo on the side of one of its new planes.
Cathay Pacific has misspelled its name on the side of a Boeing 777-367 aircraft.
Photos have emerged showing a plane at Hong Kong International Airport, emblazoned with the words “CATHAY PACIIC.”
Travellers at the airport spotted the name was missing the letter “F” and contacted the airline immediately.
It’s unclear whether a Cathay Pacific engineer or someone from Haeco, a sister company of the airline, was to blame.
The airline’s social media team saw the funny side of the error, tweeting that the plane was being sent back to be repainted.
A spokesperson for Cathay Pacific told CNN Travel: “We did not intend to make it a big fuss in the first place, but photos went viral within the aviation enthusiastic groups, so we just shared the hilarious moment with everyone.”
The Hong Kong-based carrier is currently amid a three-year turnaround programme after two years of losses.
