Despite the emergency response on the ground, passengers on board the 787-900 Dreamliner were completely unaware of the issue.
In a statement, the airline said: “United flight 839 from Los Angeles to Sydney landed safely in Sydney after following a mechanical issue. The aircraft taxied to the gate and all customers disembarked normally.”
Some major roads around the airport were closed as a precaution.
The airport was not shut down during the emergency response, and it’s understood there were no delays to flights.
